Position: Staff Accountant

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Compensation: $80,000-$90,000

Position Summary

Growing construction company seeking a Staff Accountant to support project accounting, job cost analysis, and financial reporting. This role will work closely with Project Managers to monitor project performance, maintain accurate WIP schedules, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Partner with Project Managers to review budgets, job costs, change orders, and project profitability.
• Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
• Track job costs, retainage, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Analyze project variances and assist with forecasting and reporting.
• Support audits and ensure compliance with company accounting policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction.
• Knowledge of WIP reporting, job costing, and construction accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar construction accounting software preferred.
